Putting The Eladio Diaz B&A To The Test

Diaz Cabrerra · Toro

Tasting notes

First third

Dominant notes of sweet hay, creamy cedar, and a subtle light earthiness.

Hints of sweet graham cracker and digestive biscuits roll across the palate.

Exceedingly smooth, offering a gentle touch of white pepper and light floral sweetness

Second third

The creaminess evolves into a dense cocoa and roasted nut flavor. The cedar note darkens, becoming more prominent and slightly dry.

A unique, distinctly Dominican musty barnyard or "mushroom" note—reminiscent of Díaz's famous previous blending style—briefly emerges in the background.

The white pepper shifts to a slightly sharper red or black pepper note.

Final third

Rich natural tobacco takes the lead, heavily supported by charred oak, dark chocolate, and a more robust earthy base.

A subtle caramel or molasses sweetness from the Dominican Broadleaf occasionally peeks through to balance the heavy wood notes.

Stronger baking spices and a heavier pepper kick that lingers on the finish.

Reaches medium-plus strength with a full-flavored, thick body.

Burn: Stays relatively straight, though it can occasionally meander or become slightly wavy, necessitating a minor touch-up with a lighter to stay on track.

Draw: the airflow leans slightly on the open side. While it does not cross into a completely hollow or "straw-like" feel

Construction: The bunching is consistent from foot to cap, showing a slightly firm, uniform pack with no noticeable hard spots or soft pockets.
